Michigan publishes one standard schedule for all Secretary of State offices. Some offices close for lunch or open only on certain weekdays. On the first Thursday of each month offices open at 10 AM Eastern (9 AM Central). Most visits are scheduled ahead.

Bring what the state asks for; the list depends on the errand.
A REAL ID application needs proof of identity, your Social Security number and proof of your Michigan address. Renewals and registrations need less. The Michigan Secretary of State site lists the exact documents for each service at www.michigan.gov/sos. Bring originals; copies are usually refused.
