Bring what the state asks for; the list depends on the errand.

A REAL ID application needs proof of identity, your Social Security number and proof of your Minnesota address. Renewals and registrations need less. The Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) site lists the exact documents for each service at dps.mn.gov/divisions/dvs. Bring originals; copies are usually refused.
