Before you make the trip
Confirm dealership paperwork before visiting
If buying from a dealer, the dealer sends the paperwork to the county treasurer. Processing can take several weeks. MVD directs you to confirm the county has received it before booking or visiting. Appointment requirements are set by the county.
Review the county title and registration processTitle a purchased vehicle or transfer a financed title
For a private purchase, bring the current title signed over by the seller. If an out-of-state lender holds your title, request form MV63 from the treasurer and have the lender release the title to that office before completing the transfer.
