A REAL ID application needs proof of identity, your Social Security number and proof of your Tennessee address. Renewals and registrations need less. The Tennessee Department of Safety, Driver Services site lists the exact documents for each service at www.tn.gov/safety/driver-services.html. Bring originals; copies are usually refused.
